Organic Pest & Weed Control

Posted In: Conservatory | News

I love gardening so much, every morning I’ll go out to my garden with my morning coffee, while relaxing and just attend to my garden’s needs. It has become a morning routine for me, its so beautiful there are so many gorgeous hummingbirds that greet me in the morning, on their scheduled route through my garden, and the birds are just chirping away making a sweet background melody. I have to say its very blissful, its almost a meditation for me, always starting off the morning to be a great day.

Although when I was little I didn’t really like gardening as much as I do now. This morning I was attending to my garden, because I notice I had a few mushrooms popping up and it was time to start picking and pulling out weeds. I had this procrastinating feeling when it came to pulling out weeds, and I started to contemplate why I felt this feeling? Then I had a memory flash back that whenever I got in trouble with my Aunt, she would punish me by making me pull out all the weeds from her garden, so in conclusion it made me associate the blissful act of gardening into a punishment filled with just pulling out weeds. Once I realized that was the source of my feelings, I immediately started to pull out weeds, to start a new feeling, after awhile a more calming feeling started to come up, and pulling the weeds now became a part of my meditation. I now associate pulling weeds like pruning a bonsai or trimming a tree back. I also now realized that if you want your child to enjoy gardening, don’t make garden tasks as a punishment, otherwise they will associate gardening as something bad.

As I know some people may still not like the weeding part of gardening, so I have found an amazing solution to organically get rid of weeds, mushrooms and even ants. A solution that is, Yes Organic, without the use of harmful pesticides. What is this amazing organic pest and weed control solution?

Neptune’s Harvest Organic Crab Shell is an excellent dry organic source of NPK, Calcium (23%) and Magnesium (1.33%). They recommend Crab Shell for nematode and fungus problems, to control Ants, Grubs, Fungus and weeds, even weeds. Here’s why: Crab Shell is high in Chitin (Kite-en), which promotes the growth of Chitin eating bacteria in the soil. Helps control Ants, Grubs, Fungus and weeds.
The exoskeletons of fungus and nematode eggs are high in chitin. Use their crab shell to create a hostile environment for the fungus and nematodes by feeding the biological life that eats chitin and chitin based organisms.

The Four Pound Bag is just $19.50

Another thing to do, to help control pests that’s organic is; Neptune’s Havest Organic Cedar Oil. The aroma of cedar is lethal to non-beneficial insects and snakes, which are driven by pheromone (odor) and heat stimuli. Cedar Oil interferes with the ability of the insect’s octopamine neuro receptors to detect food, mates and reproduction habitats. When comfort levels are destroyed, insects become overwhelmed and relocate to areas of concentration where sight driven predators such as birds, lizards and beneficial insects will control infestations. Insect displacement interrupts the “egg layer cycle”, eliminating a new generation. Continued use of this product will create a barrier of re-entry, leaving an insect free landscape or structure. The aroma of Cedar Oil to an insect or venomous snake mirrors that of ammonia to a human. Plus it smells amazing!

Hope this helps your garden to be organic, beautiful & healthy!
